COMMUNITY
CVPromise believes school success is not limited to classroom academics. The whole community environment plays a part. That is why an important pillar to CVPromise pipeline of services is the strengthening of Community. From the very beginning, CVPromise has worked closely with families and residents developing programs based on their input, feedback, and needs.
Together, we will build a community that supports education today and beyond.
ONGOING EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
From intergenerational gardening and reading events to walking groups to large community celebrations, CVPromise has many fun events for all ages.
IMAGINATION GARDEN
For years, the garden at Castle Park Elementary was brown and empty. It was one of the first projects Castle Park parents and residents wanted to tackle. By bringing it back to life, they believed it would not only teach healthy eating in a community challenged with high obesity rates but also provide a place for intergenerational activities and outdoor reading.
Supported by the CVPromise team, Castle Park community parents and residents applied for the City of Chula Vista’s Love Your Block grant. They were awarded $1,000 to purchase supplies from their local Home Depot. Moved by their efforts, Home Depot kicked in some extra saving.
Imagination Garden now is in full swing and has provided not only a harvest of vegetables and activities – but also a place for residents of all ages to gather. Imagination Garden holds ongoing activities and events.
